These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of this website and the professional services provided by Hampton Surveyors ("we", "us", "our"). By using our website or instructing us to carry out a survey, valuation or other professional service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About Hampton Surveyors

Hampton Surveyors is a firm of RICS-regulated building surveyors and RICS Registered Valuers. We are regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Our surveying and valuation services are provided to clients based in England and Wales.

2. Website Use

The content on this website is provided for general information purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes professional surveying or valuation advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for professional advice specific to your circumstances.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of content on this website, but we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, or up to date at all times. We reserve the right to change, update or remove content at any time without notice.

3. Professional Services

3.1 Scope

The scope of any survey, valuation or other professional service we carry out will be confirmed in our letter of engagement or terms of instruction issued to you before works begin. Our professional services are governed by RICS professional standards and guidelines applicable to the relevant service type.

3.2 RICS Standards

All RICS Homebuyer Reports and Building Surveys are carried out in accordance with the RICS Home Survey Standard (2021) and the RICS Surveying Safely guidelines. All valuations are prepared in accordance with the RICS Valuation — Professional Standards ("Red Book") where applicable.

3.3 Survey Limitations

Our surveys are visual inspections of accessible areas and are not destructive investigations. We cannot inspect items that are concealed, inaccessible, or covered by fixed floor coverings, furniture, contents, or built-in fittings. We cannot test or certify services (gas, electricity, drainage, water). The limitations of each inspection type are described in the relevant survey report. We recommend that you read the limitations section of your report carefully before relying on its findings.

3.4 Fees and Payment

Our fees are agreed and confirmed in writing before any professional work is carried out. Payment is typically required before or upon delivery of the written report. We reserve the right to withhold delivery of a report until payment has been received in full. Our fees are quoted inclusive of VAT where applicable.

3.5 Cancellation

If you wish to cancel an instruction after booking but before the inspection has taken place, please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice of the booked inspection date may be subject to a cancellation fee to cover abortive costs.

4. Professional Indemnity

Hampton Surveyors holds professional indemnity insurance in accordance with RICS requirements. Details of our insurance cover are available on request.

5. Liability

Our liability to you in connection with any professional service is limited to the fee paid for that service, except where our liability arises from our negligence, fraud, or wilful misconduct, or where limitation of liability is not permitted by law.

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website, including any loss caused by computer viruses, malware, or other harmful content from third-party sites linked from our website.

Hampton Surveyors is committed to providing a high-quality professional service. If you have a complaint about any aspect of our service, please contact us in the first instance by email or in writing. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 working days.

As a RICS-regulated firm, we operate a formal complaints handling procedure in accordance with RICS requirements. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction through our internal procedure, you have the right to refer the matter to RICS for independent review. Details of RICS's complaints and dispute resolution services are available at rics.org.
